where Franz Welser-Möst conducted this year's New Year's Concert,
featuring the legendary music of the Strauss family and of Franz Liszt!

And if you want to escape from the City of music for an afternoon,
take a trip through the romantic snow-covered Vienna Woods!

Today's flowers - Wild roses and chestnut trees

The first rose bushes are blooming in Vienna! White and yellow, surrounded by lush green!

On my picture, the chestnut trees are still blooming. But today's cold rain has washed down the petals.
The icemen are doing their best!

Spring in Vienna's Stadtpark!
Flowering trees and bushes everywhere, locals and tourists enjoying a stroll in the warm sun.
Many tourists are from Japan, taking pictures of each other, in front of the gold-coloured statute of Johann Strauß, under the flowering cherry tree.

Spring has arrived just in time!

Autumn stroll in Vienna's Stadtpark

After crossing busy Ringstraße, you enter Stadtpark,
a green oasis right in the center of the city Vienna.

An Autumn stoll in Vienna's City Park -
the white architecture of the pavillons and the copper green balustrades and bridges make a nice contrast with the coloured leaves.
The river Wienfluss flows peacefully now, but the large river bed protects Vienna from floods in summer thunderstorms.

A Sense of Autumn

This evening we visited our favourite "Gastgarten" in Stadtpark,
sitting under the sykamore trees, chatting.
On our way home we noticed that autumn is coming soon.

Even the statute symbolizing Autumn,
Herbst,
is smiling wistfully :)
