Sky Watch Friday - Urban or rural ?

Would you prefer to watch the sky
in the countryside or in a town?

St. Stephen's Cathedral,Vienna,

throwing its shadow on a foggy background....
(with a new gilded top
and the scaffloding being gradually removed)

...or the pastel winter sunset over sleepy Pfaffstetten, Lower Austria?

* * *

I love both, urban and rural,
but I need to leave the city from time to time to see the horizon.

For all skies around the globe, please follow THIS special link :)

I'm a country mouse and love the wide open skies and sleepy villages, but you have me torn in two because, how could I possibly resist the beauty of that lovely cathedral?
A great post.

Hi Maria :)

It depends on which time of the year.

The sky you have shown on the countryside is dull and uninspiring. There are times of the year when the sky over the country side will be gorgeous and spellbinding. Besides, the kind of skies shown in the excellent photos can be seen from some parts of the city also.

On the other hand the photos of the Cathedral you have posted are magnificent and a great sight to watch. I amazed at the intricate workmanship on the Cross on top of the Cathedral and the dazzling light.I am compelled to look at the Cathedral rather than the sky.

Being a city person, you have knowingly or unknowingly, given a preference to city :):):)I like that question :) :) :) :) :)

Have a good day :)

Maria, thank you so much for the wonderful present you sent me.
You're a sweetheart. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I like Austria with every colour and light the sky has!
But I do wonder: Where is the snow I saw in TV? It's strange because...a snowman came here yesterday from Austria...LOL! I'll post his story on Saturday...Thanks a lot Maria! He found his place in my Christmas decoration!

No preference, I love to skywatch whereever I am at the moment. You have great photos here.

I love both of them. The cathedral on a foggy day looks like it's been cut and pasted on a grey background. Fantastic Maria! I love the old cathedrals of course and the historic buildings in your city. I like your walks with your friend. I also love the countryside. It is infused with the beauty of nature.

I like to live in the city during the week and in the country on the weekends.

I'd have to agree with Joseph...it depends on the season; Summer I'd choose the country but in Winter city skies seem cosier, warmer. I like your photo of the Church very much..

Please don't make me choose. I love them both! Beautiful photos.

i like both actually ... they have their pluses. there is something about architecture in the city set against the sky and then there of course is something about the wide open skies too...
have a good holiday season.

I guess I would see the country sky first and then go visit the city and visit the beautiful places. MB
