WOW, DOUBLE WOW! I am impressed. WOW! You are a real outdoor woman. You go girl! Fantastic and admirable. You actually climbed and walked the steep trails. I alsmost opassed out when I saw the cliff. I have never seen an Edelweis before. Did you sing

"The hills are alive
with the sound of music..."

Very beautiful, lovely and I have a new admiration for your incredible stamina. I get dizzy and have altitude sickness at 12,000 feet.

Thank you for sharing these.

Maria: I look at this flower and have to think of the "Sound of Music" and the song. You have shown it wonderfully.

This looks like quite a dicey hike.
The Edelweiss is such a special flower and has played always a big role in folk songs and folks theater etc. Is the Edelweiss still popular in this regard, Maria?

You are so lucky to have a place like that where to go to. Mountains always fill me with wonder, I've never seen one for real except from a plane.

Hi Titania, yes, the Edelweiß is still the most famous flower of the Alps. There are folks songs about the Edelweiß, and in many old films the Edelweiß is picked by the young man and given to his beloved as a special present when he wants to show his love to her...
We are not allowed to pick them but I have a dried one in the cover of my passport...

Being retired is a very good thing, Elizabeth! I am still working, but my hubby is retired and I often envy him of is freedom...
Thans for stopping by!

Oh I heard about the musical "The Sound of Music" and I think there is also an old movie and it is all about the Trap Family singers, but Marie Reed is right, it is not so popular in Europe as in the USA and I have not seen it.
Maybe Europeans suspect there are too many cliches in the movie...

Thank you for the walk, it was wonderful. I've just read a novel placed in Vienna, "The Little Book", so now I know what it looks like.
