My World Tuesday - Snowfall in Vienna

Some snowflakes in Vienna create a lovely atmosphere and inspire me to take some pictures of Karlskirche, one of the most interesting baroque churches.

HISTORY:
In 1713,
one year after the last great plague epidemic, Charles VI,
Empress Maria-Theresia's father, pledged to build a church.
Thus Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach, the most influential Austrian architect of the Baroque period, built Karlskirche,
one of the most interesting baroque churches north of the Alps.

Maria, as always it is a joy to experience your Vienna in any weather, but a snow cover does lend it romance.

Beautiful, but until I reached your text I failed to realize that this was a church. What a grand Karlskirche.

What a grand church! At first I thought it was St. Peters Churc in Rome.....(blushing....) Beautiful pics - the snow looks like a thin layer spread powder.

Hi Maria, Your Vienna is such an elegant city and the snow enhances this aspect. I love the baroque style, I used to like Bauern Baroque furniture which is not as elaborate. Your Information is very welcome. I learned something more about Vienna.

Sehr schöner Bericht, wenn auch die weiße Pracht nicht lange weiß
sein wird.

Lovely shots...but it sure looks too bleak and cold from me!!

Très joli but very cold apparently. The church is magnificent. Thank you for the history lesson.

Hi Maria :)

Greetings!

A magnificent, monolithic architectural beauty of epic proportions. A veritable visual treat.

When you go there next time please pray for me and make three wishes for me. I am serious.

Vienna, which is colorful, bright and gay otherwise, is so dull and, gray during this part of the season. People must be longing for sunshine for sure.

Many thanks for the great photos taken from different angles for a proper view of the church.

Wish you a nice day :)
